Playing Hockey In A Whole New Light

More email questions

"...If some XHL franchises were put in cities where a hockey already exists, IE: Vegas, do  you believe there would be any conflict of interest?"

Our variant of the game is unique, appealing and wholly entertaining in a way that traditional hockey cannot compete against with respect to the consumer value.  Providing a family entertainment can never be construed as a conflict of interest; not for the fans and certainly not for the promoters and facilities owners.  Their interests are best served by providing outstanding value for the consumer's leisure dollars and filling the seats of the venues we engage.  Both are well served.

As to the existing - and for the most part Failing - sports franchises in regions we enter, if they are truly viable we can and will coexist.  If they are not, then they will either be absorbed or put into a very difficult position.  Competition is good for the industry at large.  Unfortunately, there has been none.  It is for this reason that Professional Hockey has been permitted to degrade over the past couple of decades.

We believe that the public deserves a better form of Ice Hockey.  The only conflict of interest that may arise is that of the lowest common denominator.  We are in direct opposition of permitting hockey to become a bloodsport for the masses.

"Im [removed] out of North Las Vegas, Nevada. I stumbled upon your post from one the arena articles in the Las Vegas Sun.  I hail from New Jersey so I know how awesome it is the have a sports oriented town. I like the concept of the XHL, I have been a "hockey" fan since a child but I do have some questions.

I work very part time at the Orleans Arena where the ECHL Las Vegas Wranglers play. The attendance  was down quite a bit this year I think for several reasons ,mediocre team, lack of simple marketing, economy, lack of incentives for the public to show up. Vegas is a very hot and cold town to say the least but I do know Vegas doesn't like to be outdone. I personally think the marketing for our local hockey is garbage and if people stuck to the basics our attendance would rise. I get a discount being an employee but im also military. They just recently started offering tickets at a discount to military personnel, that should've been instilled from its creation. We also have no "family plans" or all you can eat plans like other venues do.

If you poll half of las vegas, they probably have never even heard of having hockey in this town. I sometimes question starting another league due to the decline in the NHLs attendance but hey look how the UFC turned out. We have some pretty close minded people in this world right now but the few with balls see opportunity. I like the less violent approach, I hope it wouldn't detract from the "Old time Hockey" people like, although the NHL has tossed around several ideas of cleaning the game up. I hope this goes well for you, I will do what I can to support as a "hockey" fan not just an NHL fan like everyone else."

Hockey has gone awry over the past two decades.  What was once a thriving business - and in the final analysis, Sports Franchises are a financial entity - has declined to the point where 0.01% market growth has become acceptable.  Last year the NHL published its earnings as 2.23 billion dollars.  This is the profit of absolute failure in its market.  Consider what value an enthusiastic and responsible management plan might produce.

There are four spectator sports in the US; Football, Baseball, Basketball and Ice Hockey.  A recent news telecast reported the list but without Hockey.  It has declined that far.  The fact is, however, that ice hockey has a global fan base.  Ice Hockey is popular in regions of the globe that do not see ice!  The reason it is popular is because it is a contact sport that also relies upon fluid grace as much as it does the courage to compete.  Unfortunately, the game has become synonymous with bloody violence.  As a result, the game has an appeal that has degenerated to the lowest common denominator of the masses.  It has become a blood-sport.

The XHL International(tm) will change this perception.  Our games will be vividly entertaining.  Our presentation is state of the art, fully immersive, multi-media sports entertainment.  The game has been updated in both rules and game play to be faster paced and to introduce scoring opportunities never possible in the original game.  However, the game is - and will always remain - Ice Hockey.  We do not stray so far from the original game that it alienates the existing fans of traditional hockey.  We respect the game and its origins.  However, we will not permit violence or negative, poor sportsmanship to continue to offend the game and its fans.

XHL brand hockey has been conceived with the family in mind.  Today's family-oriented consumer dollar deserves to be courted with outstanding value and attention to core family values at the same time.  Our organization is dedicated to both of these principles.  That our show is an excellent value is unquestionable.  As a medium of public and televised entertainment we will have no equal.  However, the XHL has also adopted rules under which we will conduct our business; we have agreed upon a universal code of conduct to ensure that all our employees, players included, will have a safe and drug-free workplace.  Our corporation will provide incentives to our franchises to participate directly in their communities.  The XHL wishes to make a tangible effect upon its community and help nurture its health.  A healthy community nurtures its younger members and helps produce stronger citizens.  Their success benefits us all.

At all times our employees and players will conduct themselves as positive role models to our younger fans and to other businesses.  The XHL International™ has agreed to conform to the published standards of a Green Business.  We will carry these principles forward into our foreign offices and partnerships.

The XHL is more than just a new sports league dedicated to a better game of ice hockey.  The XHL is determined to be a better company.  We have an opportunity to achieve these goals and look forward to making you a fan of both of them.
